How it works
How does Olivaro work? What the label shows and what no study has tested
Olivaro is a liquid dietary supplement that you take from a dropper, 1 or 2 droppers full daily. The panel lists chromium at 0.7 mcg and a 200 mg blend of 22 ingredients with no individual amounts. We found no study that tested Olivaro, so no source shows what it does in the body.

The short version
How does Olivaro work?
The label tells you how to take Olivaro, not how it works in the body, and we found no study that shows what the liquid does.
Olivaro is a dietary supplement. The bottle holds 30 mL, you take it with a dropper, and the Supplement Facts panel lists two rows: chromium and a proprietary blend (Olivaro label). The front prints the line “Balanced Blood Sugar Advanced Support*”. The star leads to the FDA statement that the claim has not been evaluated.
A liquid with a dropper
Shake the bottle, fill the dropper, swallow. See why it is a liquid, not a capsule.
Studies of other products
The research covers single ingredients at other doses. No trial tested Olivaro.
The form
What does it mean that Olivaro is a liquid with a dropper?
It means you measure each serving in a dropper instead of swallowing a pill, and the bottle has to be shaken before every use.
The panel prints a serving size of 1 mL and 30 servings per container, which matches a 30 mL bottle (30 mL at 1 mL each). If you took one 1 mL serving a day, 30 servings would last 30 days. The directions say to take 1 or 2 droppers full daily, and the label does not print how many mL a dropper holds. We therefore cannot turn droppers into mL or work out how many days a bottle lasts.
The other ingredients are glycerin and water, then organic lemon extract, stevia extract 97% (Reb A), xylitol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, citric acid and natural flavors. Xylitol is dangerous for dogs, so keep the bottle where a pet cannot reach it (FDA, Xylitol dangerous for dogs).

Chromium
What does the chromium in Olivaro do?
The only ingredient with its own amount is chromium, 0.7 mcg as chromium picolinate, and that is 2% of the Daily Value.
The arithmetic checks out: 0.7 mcg is 0.0007 mg, and 0.7 divided by 35 is 2%, because the adult Daily Value is 35 mcg (NIH ODS, Chromium). NIH says the effect of chromium on glucose is unclear, and that chromium can add to the effect of insulin and metformin and cause low blood sugar.
A 2022 meta-analysis pooled 10 trials with 509 people who had type 2 diabetes. HbA1c was lower with chromium, fasting glucose was not, and the abstract gives no doses (Zhao 2022, chromium type 2 diabetes meta). The 2026 ADA Standards of Care call the evidence on chromium and other micronutrients insufficient (ADA 2026, Standards of Care, supplements). No trial tested Olivaro. See the chromium page.
The blend
What does the 200 mg Olivaro blend do?
Nobody can say from the label, because 22 ingredients share a 200 mg total and none has an amount of its own.
FDA's rule lets a maker print a blend's total weight and list its ingredients in descending order of predominance, without individual amounts (21 CFR 101.36(c), proprietary blends). A 2023 perspective on proprietary blends calls that unusable for judging a dose (Saldanha 2023, proprietary blends perspectives). If the 22 were equal, each would be about 9.1 mg (200 divided by 22), but the label does not say they are equal.
Studies of single ingredients do not fill the gap, because they used other preparations and usually other doses.
| Ingredient | Who and how many | What the review reported |
|---|---|---|
| Green tea extract | 6 trials, 382 people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes | No difference in HbA1c or fasting glucose (Yu 2017, green tea glycemic meta) |
| Capsicum (capsaicin) | 14 trials | No effect on fasting or after-meal glucose or insulin (Foshati 2021, capsaicin glycemic meta) |
| Astragalus | 20 trials, 953 people with type 2 diabetes, added to treatment | Lower glucose and HbA1c, with limits on certainty (Hong 2024, astragalus type 2 diabetes meta) |
None of these reviews tested Olivaro, and none used the unstated amounts in this bottle. See how the groups compare on the ingredients page.

How well do studies back each ingredient group?
Unevenly, and for single ingredients at other doses, never for this liquid.
Each gauge is an editor's reading of how well human studies support the label's blood sugar line for one group on its own. It is a judgment, not a measurement, and not a rating of Olivaro.
Chromium
Little22 of 100
NIH says the effect on glucose in people with diabetes is small and its significance unclear; the label's 0.7 mcg is 2% of the Daily Value. (NIH ODS, Chromium) (Zhao 2022, chromium type 2 diabetes meta)
Gymnema
Little18 of 100
Small, mixed studies at amounts far above anything the 200 mg blend could hold for one ingredient. (Devangan 2021, gymnema type 2 diabetes meta) (LiverTox, Gymnema)
Green tea and guarana
Little15 of 100
Trials of green tea show little glycemic effect; both are caffeine sources, and the label prints no amounts. (Yu 2017, green tea glycemic meta) (Schimpl 2013, guarana review)
Ginseng and herbs
Little15 of 100
Small trials of single herbs at studied amounts; none at the unstated amounts in this blend. (Shishtar 2014, ginseng glycemic meta) (Hong 2024, astragalus type 2 diabetes meta)
Amino acids
Very little5 of 100
No human trial found at the unstated amounts, so there is nothing to set the label beside. (Saldanha 2023, proprietary blends perspectives)
Our reading of the sources, not a measurement. Each needle is an editor's judgment of how well human studies support the label's blood sugar lines for that ingredient group, at studied amounts. It does not rate Olivaro: no study tested the liquid or this 22-ingredient blend.
Using it
How do you take Olivaro, step by step?
Follow the printed directions: shake well, take 1 or 2 droppers full daily, place it in the mouth and swallow.
The label also says not to exceed the recommended dose. It prints no time of day and no dropper volume.
- 01
Read the label and your medicine list
Check that the seal is intact and read the panel. Note insulin or diabetes pills, blood pressure and heart medicines, liver disease, pregnancy or nursing, and ask a clinician or pharmacist first if any apply.
- 02
Follow the label
The label says: shake well before each use, take 1 or 2 droppers full daily, place in mouth and swallow. It does not print the dropper volume or a time of day.
- 03
Keep your own record
If you test your blood sugar, keep your own readings and tell your clinician what you take. A home reading is your data, not a result of any product.
- 04
Store it safely
Keep it away from heat, light and humidity, in a cool, dry place, out of children's reach and away from dogs and other pets (it contains xylitol).

Blood sugar
Does Olivaro lower blood sugar?
We found no study that shows it does, and Olivaro is not a diabetes medicine.
NCCIH says there is no reliable evidence that any herbal supplement controls diabetes, and that supplements should not replace medical treatment (NCCIH, Diabetes and dietary supplements). A home meter reading is your own data, not a result of Olivaro, and a supplement does not replace testing of fasting glucose and A1C.
If you take insulin or diabetes pills, ask a clinician or pharmacist before you add any supplement, and never stop or change a prescribed medicine because of one. Severe low blood sugar (confusion, fainting, seizure), chest pain or trouble breathing: call 911. Stop and ask for care if you notice dark urine, yellow skin or eyes, or belly pain, because gymnema and green tea extract have liver case reports in LiverTox (LiverTox, Gymnema). Pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition should ask a physician first, as the label says.
Questions to bring to a pharmacist are on the medicine interactions page; when to see a clinician is on this list.
FAQ
Olivaro how it works: common questions
How does Olivaro work?
The label shows how to take it, not how it works in the body. It is a liquid with a dropper, 1 or 2 droppers full daily, with chromium at 0.7 mcg and a 200 mg blend of 22 ingredients. We found no study that tested Olivaro.
What is Olivaro?
Olivaro is a liquid dietary supplement in a 30 mL bottle with a dropper. The panel lists a 1 mL serving, 30 servings, chromium and a proprietary blend. It is not a capsule, a gummy or a drug, and it treats no disease.
Does Olivaro start working right away?
We found no source on how fast, or whether, it acts, because no study tested it. The label gives no timeline. Any page promising a number of days or weeks is not reporting a result from the liquid.
Can Olivaro be taken with diabetes medicine?
Ask a clinician or pharmacist before you add it. Chromium can add to insulin and metformin and cause low blood sugar, NIH says. Never stop or change a prescribed medicine because of a supplement.
Why does the label say to shake the bottle?
The label says to shake well before each use but gives no reason. Liquids that hold many ingredients may settle between uses, so the instruction is easy to follow: shake, fill the dropper, swallow.
How much is in one dropper of Olivaro?
The label does not say. It prints a 1 mL serving and 30 servings, but not how many mL a dropper holds, so droppers cannot be converted to mL or to a count of days.
